Welcome to Chula Vista, California.
A port of entry, the city lies in an area of citrus fruit- and vegetable-growing, and it has grown considerably with the aerospace industry in neighboring San Diego (the population increased 61% between 1980 and 1990). A U.S. Olympic training center is there. Other manufactures include apparel, building materials, and electrical items. Chula Vista has a large percentage of Mexican-American residents.Chula Vista is a lovely city of approximately 200,000 residents, located south of San Diego near the Mexican border. Chula Vista today is home to a diverse, strong business community. Corporations such as Hitachi Home Electronics (America), Inc., DNP Electronics America, LLC and Leviton Manufacturing Company are located in the city. Chula Vista's Economic Development Division aims to "develop and implement economic development strategies that promote a diversified and vibrant local economy, generate tax revenues and provide job opportunities, to ensure the City's short and long-term fiscal viability." The city of Chula Vista is anything but short on entertainment. Its pleasant weather and ideal location near a harbor and mountains offer endless recreational opportunities. The city has access to four golf courses, including EastLake Country Club and San Diego Country Club. There are also two harbor marinas, numerous parks and miles of pedestrian, biking and equestrian trails. In addition to the marinas, the harbor is home to an RV park, several restaurants, the Chula Vista Yacht Club and two waterfront parks. Chula Vista is also filled with cultural opportunities. The Chula Vista Heritage Museum, which opened in 1993, is part of the Chula Vista Public Library System and is a non-profit organization. The OnStage Playhouse, the only live community theatre in Chula Vista, produces six or more plays per year. It is a member of both the Associated Community Theatres of San Diego County and the American Association of Community Theatres. Chula Vista is also home to San Diego Junior Theatre, the oldest continuing children's theatre program in the country.

With its' near perfect weather, numerous parks and open spaces and beautiful harbor, Chula Vista offers visitors a wide variety of year-round activities and attractions. Go sailing on San Diego Bay or fishing in freshwater, mountain lakes. The city has two marinas, four golf courses, a new water adventure park and miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Chula Vista is also just minutes to the ocean, as well as downtown San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico, with all the cultural, recreational and shopping opportunities they provide. Points of interest in the city include the ARCO Olympic Training Center, the Chula Vista Nature Center and the Chula Vista Heritage Museum. Shopping and dining are abundant in the city, from large malls to the shops of historic Third Avenue. Other nearby attractions include the famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Legoland, the Birch Aquarium and Old Town San Diego. Lodging in the area includes everything from family-friendly hotels and motels to vacation rentals, bed & breakfast inns to luxurious oceanfront spas and inns.
